Introduction
Welcome to Mathematics. This lesson is for you. We will start from what you know, then try something new, then check that it makes sense. We check we understood and celebrate. The heart of this lesson is Decimal numbers.
What we will do
In about 40 minutes we will: (1) say hello and warm up, (2) learn the new idea with examples, (3) practise together, (4) try it on our own, (5) check we understood, (6) pack away and celebrate.

Teach it
This is the check lesson. We do not rush a new idea. We show what we can already do, and we repair any shaky part.
Let’s walk through Decimal numbers slowly for Grade 4 Mathematics. Step A — Notice: what can we see, hear, or touch that belongs to this idea? When you finish, the child should be able to point, say, and try — not recite a page they do not feel.

In real life
Look for Decimal numbers today in Bulawayo, or wherever you are. It may hide in cups of water, in a conversation at the shops, in a game after school, or in helping at home. Tip for the helper
Ask: “Teach me Decimal numbers as if I never went to school.” Listen without jumping in. If the explanation is wobbly, try one smaller example together. A short, calm practice after sadza is better than a long, tired argument.
