Introduction
This is the Grade 4 English course (Ages 9–10). It is written so a child can learn with a teacher, a parent, or a careful older sibling. Every lesson tells you what will happen, why it matters, how to try it, and how to know you understood. The PlusOne / HBC teacher’s guide PDF sits beside the lessons so you can open the original pages when you want the full book.
What you will learn
You will grow in English through these units: Last minute luck; The new baby; The old man Mahleka; The locusts; My friend Fluffy; Ruth goes on holiday; Zimbabwe’s wild animals; Children’s Rights; Herding cattle; Examination and 10 more units. By the end you should be able to talk about each idea, try a task, and connect it to home and Zimbabwe.
How we learn
Four lesson types in every unit: Discover (meet the story), Learn (words and meaning), Practise (speak and write together), Show (check you understood). Open the PlusOne PDF when you want the original page. Use the small chart to see time and steps. A helper sits nearby; the child does the talking.
What you need
A pencil, an exercise book, and a quiet place to sit. A short story page, or pictures from a newspaper or old magazine.
