How this course is shaped

Introduction

This is the Grade 1 ChiShona course (Ages 6–7). It is written so a child can learn with a teacher, a parent, or a careful older sibling. Every lesson tells you what will happen, why it matters, how to try it, and how to know you understood. What you will learn

You will grow in ChiShona through these units: Mhuri yedu; Mhuka; Midziyo yepamusha nemabasa ayo; Baba naamai Mauro; Midziyo yepamusha; Dzokororo yekutanga; Mabasa epamusha; Zvekurima; Zuva rapisa; Dzokororo yechipiri and 10 more units. By the end you should be able to talk about each idea, try a task, and connect it to home and Zimbabwe.

How we learn

We learn in tiny steps. We look, we say, we do, we praise. If the child looks away, we pause. Short, happy lessons beat long, hard ones.

What you need

Crayons, paper, and something to count or hold. An adult nearby to help. Pictures of home, family or animals. A small chart of letters if you have one.
